"In war,
Victory should be
Swift.
If victory is slow,
Men tire,
Morale sags.
Sieges
Exhaust strength;
Protracted campaigns
Strain the public treasury."
- Sun Tzu, The Art of War
After two years, our incompetent, evil and tyrannical ruling class are fleeing the War on Covid with all of the grace with which they left Afghanistan. From the beginning, it was obvious to those of us capable of thought that launching a war on an infectious respiratory disease simply wasn’t reasonable or viable. A friend of mine [who seems to be rapidly becoming the anonymous sage of my writing] mused that the reason the Boomers acted in such an insane fashion was because they had never seen a problem that they couldn’t bomb or borrow their way out of, and they had no other strategies.
Decades ago, some comedian said something which has become somewhat trite by now, “The war on drugs gave us more drugs, the war on poverty gave us more poverty, the war on terrorism gave us more terrorism. We have to stop declaring war on things, we’re getting our asses kicked!” Indeed, as I have said this entire time, “Like drugs, poverty, and terrorism before it, covid is a problem to be managed not a war to be won.” [At least in the case of terrorism there is a military component to managing the problem.] The point is, seeking to achieve total victory over something where total victory is impossible is insane and leads to a huge number of problems because it justifies doing literally anything. I was aware of this concept well before covid, as they kept playing these Vision Zero commercials about ending traffic fatalities on the radio and it was clear to me that would be impossible while justifying unlimited oppression: but one death is too many!
The great Mitchell and Webb were also aware of the insanity of such things, as shown in this clip I must have shared 100 times [I am absolutely the guy in this sketch]:
And thus, this experiment was doomed from the start. At least in terms of controlling a disease, in terms of removing freedom, transferring wealth to the oligarchy, and harming the next generation it was extremely successful. [They say you shouldn’t attribute to evil what could be attributed to incompetence, but our leaders are quite clearly both.]
And now, after two years of extreme cognitive dissonance and horrible oppression, this is drastically collapsing in the face of the Freedom Convoy protests. While Trudeau has declared martial law, other countries have no idea what to do in the face of expanding protests. And the scribblers for the ruling class don’t have anything to say better than this bizarre piece linking the trucker protests to sovereign citizens.
But, in fear for their own necks they are retreating. They can claim the science changed, but the public doesn’t believe them. Everyone knows this is political. Once Denmark lifted all restrictions in the face of “rising case numbers” it was the beginning of the end for the covid regime. Scotland, which has been more transparent than most, ended publishing vaccine statistics once it became obvious that the vaccines were actively counterproductive at controlling the great virus while also causing serious harm to personal health. No wonder Moderna’s stock is collapsing. And so, they are scrambling to end this.
Even Tyrant Queen Gretchen Whitmer is removing restrictions. Amusingly, useful idiot Jay Inslee, one of the dullest and most cowardly men to ever hold high office, is making it extremely obvious that he has never been a leader, and is following circumstances beyond his competence or control. The state is in full revolt, led by students themselves. Many schools have demanded mask mandates end. The superintendent of public education says the same. King County dropped its vaccine passport, and that is the most retarded area imaginable. And now, shortly after this piece will be published, our pathetic Lord Inslee will be crawling out of his cave and following yet again, with Washington’s mask mandate expected to end tomorrow. What leadership! There is no denying he followed his way out of this, and would have done it forever if he could.
All over the world the restrictions are falling and they are pretending that we can go back to status quo ex ante. But we cannot and should not. We are divided in many ways, and being on a side matters. Do you support cruelty to children or not? Are you going to side with the patricians or the plebeians? [Popular party forever!] Will you support accountability or let these egregious actions against you lie? Of course these are just our divisions related to covid, I could talk all day about the various other ways the left is insane. In my view, we simply cannot let these lunatics act like any of this was necessary, or that they protected the public, or really accept any claims that all of their actions were not actively counter-productive both to disease control and to general public health.
The numbers these idiots produced will permanently fuck their narrative. They will be the lockdowners five o’clock follies. We all know the numbers are bullshit, but they’ve insisted the numbers were honest the whole time.
Look at this hilarious chart of Washington’s tyranny compared to Idaho’s relative freedom.
The so-called “Omicron Wave” hit the ultra-vaxxed and masked Washington far harder. And bear in mind, covid got to Washington very early. The state already had a degree of natural immunity [something we can now admit exists] when they began doing tests, meaning Washington was already advantaged by these methods of measurement.
So will our liberty be restored? It’s too early to say. It certainly seems as if they intend to do this for every disease. However, there are promising signs, including the Democrats’ dismal 2022 prospects combined with Rand Paul’s pledge to investigate if given the opportunity. Also just from speaking to anyone in the public that still has a brain you find out they know how hard we have been scammed. It very much screwed them when everyone got covid anyway and it was completely fine. So much for Joe Biden’s “winter of severe illness and death.”
As this started, I was an adherent to Robert Higgs’ “Ratchet Effect.” I actually bought his book Crisis and Leviathan early on in this, but then he went full retard about covid and blocked me and many others on facebook [I had known him for several years] and I lost all respect for him and never read it. This theory posits that once government gets bigger in a crisis, it never goes back to its original size. While it’s true it can be hard to get government back down to size, it is simply the bad government and compliant population we have which has caused this to happen to us. I was quite terrified that our freedom was gone forever and the only alternative was complete collapse. Perhaps that is still true.
Machiavelli, a much, much better political theorist than Higgs, has a different view. He writes,
“It appears to me that those who condemn the disturbances between the nobles and the plebeians condemn those very things that were the primary cause of Roman liberty, and that they give more consideration to the noises and cries arising from such disturbances than to the good effects they produced; nor do they consider that in every republic there are two different tendencies, that of the people and that of the upper class, and that all of the laws which are passed in favor of liberty are born from the rift between the two, as can easily be see by what happened in Rome.” [Discourses on Livy, 1.4]
This is the major thesis of Machiavelli’s work, that this conflict between classes [as well as faction among the elites] is where all the laws that protect liberty arise. Perhaps, then, we will end this better than where we started, as the naked illegitimacy and incompetence of our ruling class is on display for all to see, while they continue to panic about random nonsense and screech about insurrection and the end of democracy daily. And indeed, to repeat the Jeffrey Tucker link I shared above, we are absolutely split into patricians and plebeians now, and other distinctions have fallen apart. It’s still hard to believe the whole ruling class coalesced around this nonsense, but indeed it did. At least the battle lines are clear.
There is already some evidence coming out that Machiavelli’s theory will apply here. Crucially, many states (including Washington) are making serious moves to limit executive power. On both sides of the aisle legislators are tired of all of their power having been usurped while the public lives under insane and arbitrary micromanagement that clearly has everything to do with a twisted desire for power and nothing to do with disease mitigation.
It appears then, that our elites are humiliated and disgraced, enough of the commons are angry and united, and legislatures as a whole are finally fed up with administrative overreach. As with the Art of War passage I began with, in choosing to launch an impossible and intentionally lengthy war, the morale and strength are gone and the public treasury is emptied; these are the perfect conditions for a revolt. [Also, what did people think “slow the spread” would do, if not lengthen this?] It was commented that being coerced into injecting shit you don’t want to inject that doesn’t work is an egregious violation of personal freedom; one that people won’t forget for a long time, and indeed, they don’t seem to be forgetting. There will be a multi-generation impact on the trust people hold in “experts”, which as an “expert”-hater myself I think is long overdue.
Perhaps Jeffrey Tucker is right and there is great virtue in waiting right now, I certainly don’t think it is the time to act imprudent, and perhaps it is right to wait for some sort of Singing Revolution. But as for myself, I think a better course is to follow the advice from the class post-Watergate film “Network”:
Update: That shameless motherfucker Jay Inslee is drawing this out another month, and in fact is trying to use graphs to justify it. Its like he wants the emergency to last 2 full years to prove a point about them trying to restrict his emergency powers. We’ll see how it goes.
