Chomsky always made the argument of Israel as a munitions depot and intelligence gathering US vassal. Since October 2023, rethinking the relationship with Israel has exploded a lot of these myths as you do here. How will Americans ever get rid of the stranglehold of the Israel lobby though?

Hard to say, the direct communication of the public with eachother makes it somewhat more difficult.

But see this is the thing: the ways in which Israel does help our national security are simply mitigating the harms Israel does to our national security. If we were not needing to be in the ME we wouldnt need a spy outpost and munitions depot in Israel.

Was Israel useful as an outpost of the US in the first decades after WW 2? The relationship between the US and ME countries has changed so much that now Israel is just a burden. Who keeps this unbreakable alliance going anyway when by all logic and reason- as you point out- the US/West pay an enormous price for their unconditional support of the Zionist state? The indoctrination about Israel is deeply rooted, I notice.
