A sterling job as always, you covered it all, well documented, with humor too! To think only courts will save us now makes me a little queasy.

Indeed, a very unreliable tool, but they are now broadly good on these most basic matters. What is also crazy that I didn't really get into is even in the best circumstances selling something like TikTok takes over 6 months, with litigation and regulators etc, and the people who voted for this obviously know that.

Who was it - Roosevelt - that tried to take over steel, an American corporation, in wartime no less. That didn’t go so well. It doesn’t seem legal for the gov’t to tell a corporation, US or international, who can own it. They’re so desperate to keep our minds a blur.

I'd add..., home-grown (US) big tech - aka, Google for instance, sees the threat of such a powerful search algorithm in Tiktok has in drawing youth away from its run-of-the-mill (inferior) search engine, and hence is all too pleased to have seen its lobbying of Congress to push for the banning. Just like 5G and Huawei... Tiktok will suffer the same fate. Instead of out-innovating the competition, ban them.
