This week on Dispatches from Clown World, we are celebrating America’s 250th birthday! Some general and often wandering discussion of this country’s history, the festivities, and the libs who can’t stand it. While “bread and circuses” is considered pejorative, in this exact instance, the government is absolutely supposed to provide circuses. Does America have its problems? Sure, but you’re supposed to love your country because it is yours, and this one happens to be particularly impressive.
As usual, we have many other Clown World topics: Mamdani’s sweep, Colombian election, Iran peace?, World Cup, MLB pride, Euro heat wave, and Usha’s dress.
Our Meeting of the Week is the Cardinals’ Consistory
In Clown World History: it has been 11 years since the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage.
